When you travel, you want to live the local life. Here in Austin, that means dining at the coolest hidden gems, enjoying plenty of privacy and space, and staying in the hip South Congress neighborhood. SoCo isn’t the typical tourist hangout, which means you’ll find the most authentically Austin experience here. And once you see the gorgeous city views from the rooftop of this stylish building, you just might want to become a full-time Austinite.
Rapid development might be changing downtown Austin into a thriving metropolis, but the charming SoCo district prides itself on “keeping Austin weird” and staying true to the city’s bohemian roots. Located just a few minutes from downtown, this contemporary 2-bedroom apartment is the perfect home base for any Austin stay. With more space than you would find in any Austin hotel room, including two private bedrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen, this SoCo condo is so convenient, so comfortable, and so cool.
Your 2 bedroom, 2 bath in SoCo includes:
-Not one, but two dreamy King-sized beds - one in each bedroom for maximum privacy and comfort.
-Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. Maybe you’ll have to draw straws to see who gets that one!
-Second bathroom with a shower/tub combination, fluffy towels, and bright lighting.
-Queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room, ideal for both post-meal naps and sleeping peacefully through the night.
-Lightning-fast WiFi (we’re talking 100mbps) makes searching for the must-try Austin foods a breeze.
-A stunning, 43-inch Roku TV which makes Netflix binges so much more enjoyable. You can also watch Hulu, Amazon Prime and any other channel available through Roku.
-Full kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a stainless steel backsplash, where you can channel your inner Top Chef. But with so many spectacular restaurants in SoCo, we won’t judge if the kitchen is just a place to store your leftovers.
-Craftsman-style barn doors that provide just enough Texas flair.
Beyond the famous Austin City Limits show and South by Southwest festival, this vibrant Texas town is home to lush parks, a legendary bat colony (they live under the Congress Avenue bridge), scenic hiking trails, Longhorns games, and an eclectic dining scene. Speaking of gastronomy, SoCo is any local’s favorite food district, boasting everything from Instagram-worthy cafes to rustic food trucks. SoCo has funky shops, a spirited atmosphere, and lots of colorful street art, making it one of the city’s most memorable areas. And with so many things to do within walking distance, you’ll experience the true urban lifestyle of Austin. When you stay with us, we’ll send you even more recommendations to ensure you have the best possible visit to Bat City.

Our favorite local spots:
Otoko (5-minute Uber ride)
1603 S Congress Avenue
Sushi might not be the first cuisine to come to mind when you think of a good meal in Texas, but in true Austin style, prepare to be wowed at Otoko. This intimate sushi bar is perfect for a special occasion or date night, with only twelve seats and highly personalized service. Prepare for a multi-course experience that will involve all of your senses and perhaps a few moments of being that person who snaps photos of their food, because the food presentation is impeccable here. You might wonder how you were magically transported to Japan so quickly, but then you’ll remember that Austin is just really serious about food. Itadakimasu!
First Thursday on South Congress (5-minute walk)
South Congress Street
If your trip to Austin serendipitously falls over the first Thursday of the month, you’re in for a treat! The shops and restaurants on South Congress turn the street into a block party, with drink specials, live music, and vendors selling locally-made jewelry and gifts along the sidewalk. Stores stay open until 10pm and bars and restaurants keep going late into the night. What a great way to kick off the weekend!
Bennu Coffee (3-minute walk)
515 S Congress Avenue
Whether you need a good cup of coffee, a quiet place to read or work, or a late-night snack, Bennu’s has you covered. This hipster-friendly cafe is open 24/7, but that doesn’t mean they sacrifice service or quality. Come here for a homey atmosphere, a lovely outdoor patio, and reliable drinks, like their specialty cold brew. And their prices are reasonable! The favorite spot of many an Austin local may just become your favorite coffee spot too.
Monkey See, Monkey Do (5-minute Uber ride)
1712 S Congress Ave
Why can’t adults have toys too? At Monkey See, Monkey Do, your gag gift dreams will come true, with their incredible selection of raunchy, random, and just plain ridiculous items. Browsing the store is one of our favorite forms of free entertainment in Austin, but you’ll probably find something you didn’t know you needed, and then it’s not exactly free. Check out their collection of Star Wars memorabilia and vintage action figures, or, if toys aren’t your thing, Monkey See, Monkey Do also sells interesting books and accessories.
Town Lake Metropolitan Park (5-minute Uber ride)
900 W Riverside Drive
Just steps from your SoCo apartment, you’ll find a world of greenery, history, and entertainment at Town Lake Metropolitan Park. This waterfront oasis features biking and walking paths, a dog park, and a much-loved statue of Stevie Ray Vaughan, where you can pay homage to the famous guitarist. The park also hosts entertainment venues like the Long Center for the Performing Arts, which regularly holds music, dance, and theater performances. Join the locals for an early morning run or a scenic sunset at this urban green space.
Kurry Tacos Food Truck (2-minute walk)
104 E Riverside Drive
Austin is all about combinations that you might not expect to work, like a tourist attraction centered on bats or a Mexican-Indian fusion food truck. Well, tacos are delicious, and you can’t beat a nice tikka masala, so why not put them together? This mouth-watering food truck serves unique tacos and bowls that somehow just work, like the Garlic Gobi Chicken, topped with Asian slaw and cilantro, and the Grilled Paneer Tako, which includes scrumptious coconut rice and jalapeno crema. Don’t miss the veggie spring rolls or samosa appetizer to get your appetite going!
So, what are you waiting for, Austin to become more weird? Make your way to the place where many great things began - Whole Foods Market, a pun championship, the US’s only Formula One race - and begin creating your own Bat City memories.
